Sony products don’t have the most elegant naming schemes. However, the XB product line is as simple as it gets. The case isn’t all bad, though. There are some nice features. The lid is translucent, so you can see the tiny LED lights inside the case that let you know if they are charging. Magnets are strong enough to hold the earbuds in place once you have placed them inside the case.
Although the earbuds are clunky and dull, man work well. Their utilitarian design with an IPX4 sweatproof build with an emphasis on bass notes, screams: “fitness buds.” Aside from those all-important features that I already mentioned, these also have what Sony calls a “Tri-hold” design, which is a fancy way of saying that you have to put them in your ear and then do a weird twist in order to get them to stay put not unlike that of other true wireless earbuds. It’s just that they’ve been done very well. These aren’t pretty, as I mentioned before. The Sony WFXB700 earbuds are not in my style. These earbuds are bulky and made from cheap plastic. They stick out of your ears just like older Bose SoundSport Free headphones. If you are looking for a pair affordable workout earbuds, who cares? If you are a commuter looking for a pair of earbuds that look good and won’t cost too much, the Anker Soundcore Freedom Air 2 true wireless earbuds is the best choice.

These wireless earbuds are great for anyone who doesn’t care about your appearance. They’re very clicky and each earbud only has one button. They’re not the most comfortable buttons, but they do work well. The left earbud controls volume, while the right controls playback.
There isn’t a fancy way to connect these to other models. You won’t even find NFC here which I find to be a bit of a bummer as I still think it’s a seriously underrated way to pair two devices together (if you’re on Android at least). You can pair the earbuds by simply taking them out of their case. They will then automatically go into pairing mode. From there, just look into the Bluetooth settings of your source device for “WF-XB700” and tap it to connect. You will need to follow a slightly different process if you already have a device connected and wish to pair another device.Navigate to Bluetooth settings, and then disconnect the earbuds from your primary device. Next, hold the buttons for approximately seven seconds on both earbuds.
After you hear the “Bluetooth Pairing” notification, go to Bluetooth settings on your secondary device. To pair your second device, tap on “WFXB700” in Bluetooth settings. It’s worth mentioning that just because you can pair to more than one device doesn’t mean you’ll be able to switch between the two simultaneously. These earbuds don’t have the smartest of brains. You will need to set Bluetooth preferences on both your phone and computer to allow you to switch between the two devices.
Although it sounds simple, this process can be very annoying. Multiple times, I was frustrated by the fact that I had to go through Bluetooth settings multiple times and turn the earbuds off and on with no luck.
